The short answer

The DMUN Foundation is a youth-led, non-profit, non-governmental organisation (NGO) established in 2021 that works to keep children and youth active, valid stakeholders in the intergovernmental system. It does this through three pillars: free education, youth representation, and youth-led research.

The three pillars

  • Education : free, fully online programmes such as the DMUN Annual Meetings (the world’s largest virtual Model UN conference), the Sustainability Forum, the Moot Court of International Law and Model European Union.
  • Representation : through platforms such as YouthCubed, the Foundation nominates Global Youth Representatives to major UN summits and delivers statements in UN meetings.
  • Research : the Katija Hyoungjoo Neuber Institute produces policy research on youth stakeholder recognition and youth participation in global governance.

Structure and scale

The Foundation has 27,284 members across 172 countries and territories. It is governed by a General Assembly of Members and a Board of Trustees, and administered by a volunteer Secretariat led by Executive Director Jaewon Choi, with duty stations from Seoul and Boston to New York, Geneva, Vienna, Nairobi, Bangkok and The Hague. Everything it offers is free of charge.
