Advocacy

We champion youth through direct advocacy, connecting young leaders with opportunities to influence decision-making at the intergovernmental level.

What we advocate for

Our advocacy efforts are rooted in the belief that young people have the creativity, insight, and drive to address the world’s most pressing issues. Direct engagement is at the heart of our work.

Stakeholder Recognition

Young people are vital stakeholders in the political arena and deserve a seat at the table in decision-making at all levels.

Youth Empowerment

We advocate for diverse, inclusive youth capacity-building programs, particularly for marginalised youths.

Sustainable Futures

Sustainability is a generational promise: young people must lead in shaping resilient, equitable societies.

Inclusive Policies

From educational reform to economic opportunity, we push for policies responsive to young people’s needs.

Our strategies

How we advocate

We participate in high-level international conferences with written and oral interventions; conduct bilateral meetings with diplomats, NGOs and policymakers; provide written submissions on key conventions, treaties and legislation; and organise side events that spotlight youth-led solutions.

In 2024 alone we produced 32 inputs, statements and interventions across dozens of intergovernmental bodies and conferences.

How we advocate
Youth representation

YouthCubed

YouthCubed is DMUN’s platform for youth representation in the intergovernmental system, nominating Global Youth Representatives to major UN summits, from the Summit of the Future to global financing and climate negotiations. Our advocacy eliminated the minimum age requirement in countless intergovernmental meetings, programmes and forums, and we are the first youth-led organisation to be accredited in over 62 intergovernmental entities and meetings.

Ethical advocacy

Guided by principles of neutrality, integrity, respect, and lawfulness:

Politically neutral

We advocate for policies, not parties or countries, that serve youth interests.

Integrity first

Honesty, fairness, and ethical conduct guide every decision we make.

Respect for all

We engage every individual and institution with dignity, even when perspectives differ.

Lawful engagement

We adhere to all relevant rules, regulations, and frameworks in every space we engage.
