Fraud Alert

Help us protect the DMUN name, and protect yourself from those who misuse it.

The DMUN Foundation has been made aware of events, communications and online profiles that falsely claim to be issued by, associated with, or endorsed by the Foundation. These schemes misuse our name, acronym and logo to lend themselves credibility, and in some cases seek money or personal information from students, families and partners.

All DMUN Foundation programmes are free of charge. The Foundation never charges participation fees for its conferences and programmes, never requests payment through personal accounts or money-transfer services, and never asks for banking details or passwords in connection with participation.

Events that misuse the DMUN name

The acronym “DMUN” and the DMUN logo can be abused by events that have no connection to the Foundation. Before registering or paying for any event presented as a DMUN event, verify that it is genuinely ours:

  • Check that the programme is listed on our Programmes page
  • Check that the conference appears on our official myMUN organisation page at mymun.com/dmun ↗
  • If an event claiming DMUN affiliation appears on neither, it is not a DMUN Foundation event, regardless of the name or logo it uses.

Impersonation of DMUN officials and staff

Individuals may impersonate DMUN Foundation officials or staff on personal social media accounts or professional platforms such as LinkedIn. This includes tagging the Foundation in social media posts to suggest a connection, listing fictitious DMUN work experience on professional profiles, and messaging students or organisations while posing as DMUN personnel.

A social media tag, a LinkedIn work-experience entry or a profile mentioning DMUN is not evidence of any relationship with the Foundation. A list of our staff is published on our team page, and any claimed affiliation can be verified by writing to enquiries@dmun.org. We encourage platforms and users to report impersonation accounts to the platform concerned and to notify us.

Official DMUN Foundation domains

The Foundation and its agencies communicate only through websites and email addresses on the following domains. Treat any other domain claiming to represent the DMUN Foundation with suspicion.

  • dmun.org
  • katija.org
  • youthcubed.org
  • jaewonchoi.com
  • discovermun.org
  • discovermun.com
  • ypsforum.org

Organisations with similar names

A number of unrelated organisations around the world also use the acronym “DMUN” or similar names. The organisations below are independent entities. They are not part of, affiliated with, or endorsed by the DMUN Foundation, and nothing on this page should be read as a comment on their legitimacy. The list exists solely to prevent confusion:

  • Deutsche Model United Nations e.V. (DMUN e.V.), a German association organising Model UN conferences in Germany (dmun.de)
  • Destiny Model United Nations (DMUN), a conference series based in Karachi, Pakistan
  • Deens Model United Nations (DMUN), a school conference of Deens Academy, Bengaluru, India
  • Divine Model United Nations (DMUN), a school conference series
  • Davis Model United Nations Conference (DMUNC), a conference of the University of California, Davis, United States

Reporting fraud

If you encounter a suspicious event, communication or profile using the DMUN name, do not respond, pay, or share personal information. Report the matter to your local law enforcement authorities, and notify the Foundation at enquiries@dmun.org so that we can act on it.

The DMUN Foundation accepts no responsibility for losses arising from schemes conducted in its name by third parties. The financial loss and identity theft that such schemes cause are best prevented by verifying before you engage.
