At the DMUN Foundation, young people from around the world engage in diplomacy, policy research and advocacy, gaining the skills and platforms to contribute meaningfully for sustainable development and multilateralism.

Five years ago, DMUN began with a young person’s vision to open the doors of diplomacy to everyone. In 2026 we mark our quinquennial, uniting over 27,284 young people across 172 countries and territories in one united vision.
From our first event to statements on the floor of the United Nations General Assembly, join us throughout 2026 as we celebrate five years of making sure nobody is left behind, and set course for the next five.
The Governing Body of the Foundation, which meets during the Annual General Meetings, is the primary decision-making body made up of all members of the Foundation.
Each member holds one vote, and decides on the general strategic direction of the Organisation, the appointment of its leadership, and other matters that require participation and deliberation at the highest level.
The Board of Trustees of the Foundation serves as the operative decision-making body entrusted with translating the strategic vision provided by the Members through the Governing Body into detailed plans that can be implemented through the Secretariat.
It also approves the Foundation’s annual budget, admits members, and inspects and audits the work of the Secretariat. Trustees are made up of directly elected representatives from the Governing Body and individuals appointed with consent of the Governing Body.
The Secretariat of the Foundation is charged with implementing the mandate provided by the Governing Body and the Board of Trustees — operating programmes for its Members, funding relevant organisations and projects, and advocating for children and youth in intergovernmental fora.
The Executive Director is elected from the Governing Body, and appoints the rest of the Secretariat in his capacity as Head of Organisation and Chief Administrative Officer of the Organisation.
We are the first NGO dedicated to intergovernmental advocacy that has a Secretariat comprised of a majority of people under the age of 30, with over a quarter being under the age of 20.

Our advocacy eliminated the minimum age requirement in countless intergovernmental meetings, programmes, and forums, including the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3) and the Preparatory Committees of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development.

We are the first youth-led organisation to be accredited in over 62 intergovernmental entities and meetings, serving as the sole platform for voices of children and youth to be represented in such bodies.

We remain as one of the only membership-based youth organisations that has fully eliminated mandatory dues for individual members. We are funded only through voluntary contributions from members, individuals, charitable organisations, and the private sector.

Our leadership, including the Executive Director and the Board of Trustees, is elected through a vote from our members. We are one of the only NGOs to hold open elections for its Governing Body and Chief Administrative Officer at an annual basis.
