Myelle Rodgers, Special Adviser to the Executive Director, delivered joint statements on behalf of the Foundation and other youth organisations and stakeholder groups at the Special Meeting of ECOSOC on credit ratings.
The Special Meeting examined the influence of credit rating agencies on the fiscal space of developing countries. Speaking for a coalition of youth organisations and stakeholder groups, the Foundation argued that ratings methodologies should account for long-term investments in children, education and social protection.
The Foundation holds accreditations and observer arrangements across the United Nations system, which allow its representatives to take the floor in intergovernmental meetings. Interventions are prepared by the Secretariat and, where applicable, coordinated with the Major Group for Children and Youth, whose constituency the Foundation regularly represents.
