The ITTLLDC observes the General Debate of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly
29 September 2026
From Tuesday, 22 September, to Tuesday, 29 September 2026, the International Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries (ITTLLDC), an intergovernmental organization with Observer Status at the United Nations General Assembly, observed the General Debate during the High-Level Week of the eighty-first session of the General Assembly at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Throughout the week, the DMUN Foundation, which is the Technical Secretariat of the ITTLLDC Youth Advisory Board, supported the Think Tank’s delegation, led by its Executive Director, Mr. Dulguun Damdin-Od, and joined by members of the Youth Advisory Board, as it followed the statements of Heads of State and Government from the ITTLLDC’s observer desk in the General Assembly Hall.

Mr. Alejandro Nathaniel Lawson, Senior Officer of the Foundation and Head of the Technical Secretariat of the Youth Advisory Board, coordinated the delegation’s presence throughout the General Debate and accompanied the Executive Director in his engagements at United Nations Headquarters.

Ms. Jordan Melamed, Director for Research, and Mr. Caleb Lee, Director for Governmental Engagement, supported the Think Tank’s programme on the margins of the session, including its tripartite meetings with the Governments of Nepal and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, its meeting with the United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS), and the delegation’s exchanges with Heads of State and Government and other senior officials.

On 25 September, Mr. Leo Chen, Member of the ITTLLDC Youth Advisory Board, delivered a statement on behalf of the Think Tank, in his capacity as a youth delegate, at the High-Level Meeting of the General Assembly on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response, held during the High-Level Week.
The Foundation thanks the ITTLLDC and its leadership for their confidence, and will keep working so that young people, including those from landlocked developing countries, take a meaningful part in the work of the United Nations.
