Mr. Maximilian Ang Jian Zhi of Singapore appointed Deputy Executive Director for Administrative Management
15 October 2026
Executive Director Jaewon Choi today announced the appointment of Mr. Maximilian Ang Jian Zhi of Singapore as Deputy Executive Director for Administrative Management of the DMUN Foundation. Mr. Ang will formally take up the appointment upon the convening of the Foundation's next Annual Meetings; he has discharged the functions of the office ad interim since October 2026 and will continue to serve in that capacity until then. The portfolio was previously administered directly by the Executive Director.
As Deputy Executive Director for Administrative Management, Mr. Ang oversees the administration of the Secretariat, including personnel matters, internal operations and institutional management, and sits on the Foundation's senior leadership within the Office of the Executive Director.
Mr. Ang brings to the position more than five years of service with the Foundation. Since July 2025 he has served as Observer to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and Other Intergovernmental Organisations at Asia and Africa, a role he retains, leading the Foundation's observer office for the two regions and overseeing its operations and diplomatic engagements across the Asia-Pacific and Africa.
In that capacity, he led the Foundation's delegation to the Fifteenth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, held in Abu Dhabi in 2026, which marked the Foundation's first participation in the Congress. He will lead the Foundation's delegations to the Fifteenth International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development in Xi'an and to the First Preparatory Committee for the negotiation of a successor agreement to the International Tropical Timber Agreement, 2006, in Yokohama. He previously served the Foundation as Project Officer from 2023 to 2025 and as Director-General of Model United Nations from 2021 to 2023.
Beyond the Foundation, Mr. Ang is People and Culture Officer of MAJU: The Youth Policy Initiative in Singapore. He has served with the Secretariat of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly during the Second Tripartite Forum at the Parliament of Malaysia, represented Singapore at the Thirteenth World Bank Group Youth Summit, and led the Singapore Youth Delegation to the Youth Caucus of the ASEAN AI Malaysia Summit 2025.
